Objective 2: maintain and enhance the provision of access.

Rationale

Norbury Park offers a safe and easy area for the public to access. The current use is sustainable and is not at present having any great affect on the quality of landscape. Although a vast network of footpaths and bridleways exists the current trend is for people on foot to create their own well used paths. These have been created for safety reasons or more usually as a shortcut or a means of avoiding contentious issues such as problems with other users and the variable state of the surface.
Public access is limited in the southern part of the estate due to the topography and it is here that low-key access will be maintained to protect the fabric of the landscape and its associated flora and fauna.
Bockett's Farm run as an open farm park provides an added attraction for visitors from a wider area. It should be used as a catalyst to sensitively encourage people to access the rest of the estate as part of their visit. The sawmill and workshop enterprise should also feature as a point of interest with concern for future educational and interpretational projects. The current facilities are adequate for the existing level of use.
