FEATURE 1: LANDSCAPE AND HISTORIC PARK
Objective 1
: To maintain and enhance the quality of landscape and historic park.
Rationale:
As the owner of Norbury Park Surrey County Council states in its objectives that it will conserve the semi-natural habitats, landscape and historic park. The variety of habitats and features at Norbury Park collectively contribute towards an interesting and varied landscape. These are a number of significant viewpoints across and down the Mole Gap. The landscape is dynamic and ever-changing and is an integral part of why people visit Norbury Park.
The landscape has evolved through man's intervention and in particular through management of the habitats. The agricultural land is very much a working landscape. There are a number of important historic park features remaining which need to be conserved in order to retain the interest and value of the registered park. See appendix 14 for a summary of the proposed work under the Restoration Plan. A summary of the Norbury Park Arts and Landscape Project is included in appendix 15.
