Maintain and enhance heathland communities
1 Habitat management option A3 active management
  • Promote extension of existing heath by:-
  • Creation of disturbed earth regimes near to actively growing fronds.
  • Control of Bracken enchroachment at edges and in heathland areas.
  • Experimentally try to propagate Heather seedlings.
  • Protect seedlings from Rabbits.
  • Review the success or otherwise of these measures and amend the policy as required.
  • Promote regular (every 3 or 5 years) surveys of the heathland.
  • Protect the habitat from expanding LBB gull colonies.
  • Promote surveys of the invertebrates.
2 Study and research option C2 specialist facility
  • Promote research to understand pressures on habitat type and relationships with other species of plants and animals.
3 General Access Option E2 Restricted
  • Except where footpaths cross the areas no,public access is allowed.
  • Access by researchers & reserve staff allowed for survey, management and study purposes.
