In conflict, our loyalty to our own society becomes distorted into a rejection of those that are based on different principles. We are led to believe that if we challenge the establishment's view of the world, we are undermining the foundation of our society and our own security. The military- industrial complex is one of the most powerful elements of the establishment. It has a strong vested interest in high military expenditures and the diversion of resources away from areas that genuinely improve social security.
