Multiplicity of pathways
A pattern of 32P movement worked out for an aquarium microcosm is by no means a simple water-plant-animal-water circle. Yet the pattern is quite incomplete in relation to the complexity of 32P movements in the smallest pond.
Rates and routes of transfer vary in most diverse ways for different substances in a given ecosystem and can vary for a given substance in different ecosystems.
