1.3 English Nature
English Nature’s overall objective is to maintain and enrich the characteristic wildlife and natural features that comprise England’s natural heritage. Local Nature Reserves are important to help m eet this objective.
English Nature wishes to see local authorities use the powers given to them in Section 21 of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949, more extensively than they do at present. Local Nature Reserves are an important part of any local authority plan.
English Nature is the administrating body of the New Opportunities Fund Wildspace! Grant and is supporting the designation and management of the Local Nature Reserves in Mansfield District.
