Maun Valley Park is
a well used recreational resource. Habitat management work
has therefore to combine with public access. Educational use of the site is a valuable
opportunity for practical work and environmental education.
The site layout currently
facilitates public access throughout the majority of the
accessible areas of the park.
The unofficial paths through the woodland areas are
not regularly used for access and it is intended that management regimes maintain
this system. A barrier should be installed at a set of unused steps which lead into the
woodland area. It is hoped that a good balance would therefore be created to allow
an area dedicated to wildlife and other areas with access provision.
Developments to provide
and enhance visitor services and experience, for example
seating, information and interpretation should be installed.
If new ditches and
scrapes are created leading off the River Maun, information and
interpretation should be developed. This could be achieved along a boardwalk,
allowing people to enjoy and explore the new habitats.
Dangerous trees and
branches should be felled to ensure and maintain public safety.
This work could be undertaken to coincide with education relating to woodland
management (refer to Objective 3).
Litter and rubbish
removal should be undertaken regularly to maintain the habitats
and the visual appearance of the site.
