Skomer Island is a Welsh National Nature Reserve
just off the coast of Pembrokeshire. It is a unique
educational model for the study of wildlife management.
The management plan has to take account of in more than
two millennia of farming, where people have coexisted
with large populations of sea birds in an environment
dominated by salt-laden winds. The island has a particularly
rich social history which is an integral part of the
modern conservation story.
