1.4.1 Florence annexed Pisa
In 1200 the richest individual centres of Chhristendom are in Italy; they include the city-states of Pisa, Venice and Genoa.  All benefited from special advantages offered by Christendom's arch enemy, the great ruler Saladin, to induce them to route their export activities through his port of Alexandria rather than using the rival ports of the curader kindoms or Constantinople.
