Cliff communities allowed to develop naturally
1 Option A2 Limited Intervention
  • Natural processes are to be allowed to develop modifications by Rabbits accepted.
  • Monitor change by periodic detailed survey.
  • In bare earth or areas where erosion may be a problem for the habitat type over a wider area. Promote colonisation by suitable species. e.g. Sea Campion.
  • If survey or research work indicates continued loss of some species eg Thrift, take action to exclude Rabbits from areas or other action as required to protect or encourage regeneration of the feature.
  • Where Bracken invades cliff communities -eradicate it.
  • Promote studies of relationship between vegetation and invertebrates.
2 Study & Research Option - C2 Specialist Facility
  • Promote studies of cliff and cliff slope community where research will be of of management benefit.
3 Education & Interpretation Option Dl - minimum publicity.
  • Other than cliff slope/ cliff top vegetation types the habitat is not safe and fairly fragile.
  • By reference in interpretative material explain scenic beauty, emphasise fragility, rarity and dangers.
4 General Access Option E2 -Restricted
  • No public access to be allowed.
    • Research access only allowed in safe areas or in special circumstances with due regard to the reserves health and safety policy.
