Maintain suitable habitat where possible and monitor numbers of wintering geese

  • If food preferences can be ascertained consider grassland management to benefit the geese. (take advice from RSPB)
2 Species Management Option B3 - Encouragement &Increase
  • Monitor the numbers of geese, their habitat preferences and their age structure.
  • Protect from disturbance by wardening and public information.
3 Study & Research Option C2 Specialist Facility
  • Consider further study of the wintering group if colour marking of some individuals is carried out in the Midlands or elsewhere.
  • Take advice from the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust
(Note The wintering flock has not returned to the reserve since 1988/89)
